Bee-School

Growing little performers – one voice at a time

Performing Arts Bee-School is one continuous three-hour class, weaving voice, movement and storytelling together across a single session each week. Children sing and play music, build character through movement and role play, and design and create the set and props for their own production — each element flowing into the next as part of one connected creative process.

It all builds toward one performance for parents in the classroom, every five weeks — a show made entirely by the children who are in it, from the songs they sing to the set they stand on.

Skills Your Child Builds

Voice & Musicianship — Singing in tune, rhythm and beat, reading & writing musical notation, and playing melodies on xylophone and ukulele.

Movement & Performance — Expressive role-play, storytelling, understanding face and body language, exploring different characters, and the confidence to try something new in front of an audience.

Working Together — Sharing ideas, and understanding how everyone’s contribution builds something bigger.

Our Approach

Every five weeks, children step into a mini performance for parents — a chance to celebrate their progress and enjoy a taste of performing, all in a supportive, pressure-free environment. It’s never about a polished show. It’s about a child discovering they can stand up, sing out, and be seen.

Meet our Teachers

Performing Arts Bee-School is taught by a team of specialist performing arts educators, each bringing real stage experience and formal training to the studio floor.

Rebecca Hrobat holds a Diploma in Performing Arts, majoring in Acting, from The Australian College of Entertainment. Her career spans professional dance and singing performance, acting in television and film, and years as a producer and supervising producer in the television industry. Rebecca has taught performing arts to young children for years, including tiny tots singing classes, and was part of Murmuration, a multi-disciplinary performing arts collective. As a mother of two, she brings a natural, everyday understanding of how children learn and grow at different ages.

Brianna (Bree) Budden holds a Bachelor of Education (Primary and Early Childhood) from the University of Newcastle, completed with distinctions. For six years she has taught singing, dance, drama and musical theatre at Young People’s Theatre in Newcastle, alongside full-time performing arts training at ED5 International and years of tap, jazz, contemporary and ballet. She has performed in productions including Kinky Boots, The Wizard of Oz and A Chorus Line, and choreographed Alice in Wonderland Jr and Frozen Jr. Bree pairs that performance background with genuine early childhood experience, including supporting children with autism, ADHD and dyslexia.

Lauren Britt holds a Bachelor of Music (Music Studies – Jazz Voice) from the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. Raised in a family of musicians, her experience spans musicals, choirs, dance groups and production work. Lauren’s particular focus is vocal technique — her studies in vocal anatomy and physiology shape how she guides children toward safe, sustainable singing habits and a genuine understanding of their own voice.

Olivia Harrington trained in both Musical Theatre and Classical singing, completing AMEB exams to Grade 7. A frequent chorister with groups including the Waratah Girls Choir and the Newcastle Music Festival Choir, she has performed in productions such as Frozen Jr, Into the Woods and Newsies Jr. Olivia loves watching young performers grow in confidence through music, drama and dance.

What this means for your family: whichever of our specialist educators is leading your child’s class, the program itself — the structure, the technique, the creative process — stays consistent. You’re not just booking a class with a talented performer. You’re enrolling in a program built to last.

Is Your Child Ready for Bee-School?

Bee-School offers immersive, creatively-led sessions designed for preschoolers ready to learn independently in a stimulating group setting.

As these are drop-off sessions with a rich, fast-paced program, we ask that children are toilet trained and confident engaging in structured activities without a parent present.

If you’re unsure whether your child is quite ready, we warmly invite you to arrange a visit — our team will be delighted to show you around and answer any questions.

Please note: Bee-School is a good fit for children who are enthusiastic about creative learning in either performing arts or fine art, and are able to self-regulate within a group environment.

A: No. Bee-School is a series of creative arts classes.

Q: What processes are in place to ensure my child’s safety?

A:

  • Child safety is a shared responsibility and all of our experienced staff take safety seriously.  Our staff are carefully selected for their ability to teach in a positive, fun and engaging manner, whilst ensuring the safety of their classroom and children at all times.
  • All Bee-School staff hold a Working with children check and a first aid in childcare settings certificate.

Q: My child has food allergies – what processes do you follow for keeping them safe?

A: Children bring their own packed morning tea and/or lunch, and we never give children food or allow food to be shared.

A: Children with anaphylaxis: We do have safety processes in place however ask that you call us to discuss your child’s needs first so that we can ensure a safety and medical plan is put in place prior to your first visit.

Q: My Child has a medical condition – how will they be cared for?

A: Please contact us to discuss your child’s needs. As we are a learning program, not a childcare facility, we will carefully consider your child’s needs and discuss with you whether this program is suitable for your child.

Is My Child Ready for This?

Q: How do I know if my child is ready for this?

A: Creative and performing arts is a joyful experience! It’s important that each child attending Bee-School is ready for the amount of structured learning that is presented in the program and can have fun participating!

In your child’s first few weeks of their enrolment, our teachers will let you know if they are thriving, starting to grow into it or if they are not quite ready yet / feeling overwhelmed. Our satisfaction guarantee covers you should you enrol and then find that your child is not ready.

Q: My child may likely need additional support or has additional needs – is Bee-School suitable for them?

A: If your child has additional needs – for example high anxiety, a diagnosed behavioural disorder, or trauma, or any other needs that you think may impact their ability to participate, please complete this child info form & book a meeting with our Hive Kids Manager so we can work with you on the best pathway to your child participating.
