Our Baby Room classes offer a gentle and nurturing introduction to the world of creativity and connection. Designed to fully engage your baby’s senses, these sessions support foundational learning while giving parents the chance to build valuable social connections.

Led by our warm and talented educators, each class is filled with fresh ideas for playful learning you can take home—plus plenty of meaningful bonding time in a calm, welcoming space. CLASS ACTIVITIES
This one hour class is packed with beautiful bonding activities including a 30 min music and movement time just right for non mobile babies, followed by 30 min of carefully curated play stations. Each week brings a fresh theme and activities to enjoy together.

MEET MEL SAUNDERS
Early Childhood Educator, Musician and Programmer

Mel is the talented, creative and extremely qualified educator behind our baby and music programs.

For years, our baby music and play programs have seen little bees flourish and thrive. Meeting the developmental needs of the baby and the social and emotional needs of parents. Our programs are written, refined and practiced by our highly experienced and qualified Early Childhood Educator and Musician, Melissa Saunders.

Melissa has spent 10 years as an Early Childhood Educator, eventually specialising in observing children for referral with extra needs. Pursuing her interest in music saw her gain qualifications through ANZCA to teach Modern Singing.

Moving to Newcastle in 2014, Melissa began performing in the duo Little Cents at local venues around Newcastle. They have recorded an album “Love and other Fractured Fairy Tales” available on Band Camp. https://littlecents.bandcamp.com/

Melissa completed the training and began teaching Kindermusik for Hive Founder Vanessa Lynch and has been part of the incredible team ever since.

Her passion for music as a learning tool and her belief in family as the centre and foundation of a child’s’ ability to succeed with joy, infect every class she facilitates.

ENROLMENT INFORMATION
OPTION 1: Term Fees Upfront: 

  • 1 class per week: $235 for 10 weeks
  • 2 classes per week $400 for 10 weeks

(pro-rated where a new enrolment begins after the term start date)

OPTION 2: Monthly Flexi-Plan (available for Baby & Toddler classes only)

  • 1 class per week: $27 per class debited from your saved payment method on the 20th of each month for the calendar month ahead
  • 2 classes per week: $40 per week billed monthly

Enrolment Information:

  • Makeups: If you are missing a class, notify your absence 2 hours prior to your class start time via the client portal. Click on ‘Account’ then on your child’s name to access the enrolment menu.
  • Makeup tokens are issued AFTER your class has been missed and have a 2 month expiry.  Makeup classes can only be booked in while you are actively enrolled and are not available after your enrolment ends.
  • Refund Policy: Refunds in the form of money back to you, credit towards your fees for the same child or a different child are not given for change of mind or change of circumstances or for any other reason, with the exception of any provisions under the ACCC.

Term enrolment Policy

  • Please choose your class enrolment carefully. Once you enrol, you are committing to the full or remaining term of classes.
  • No cancellations are accepted during the current term after the start date for the term.

Monthly flexi plan policy (ONLY available for Baby & Toddler classes)

  • Please choose your class enrolment carefully. Once you enrol, you are committing to the full or remaining month of classes.
  • Cancellations can be placed PRIOR to the 1st of the month and will be actioned on the 1st of that month. Late cancellations will be actioned at the end of the month they were received in.

Unlimited Makeup Classes

Can’t Make It to Class?
Life happens—we get it! Just let us know through the Client Portal at least 2 hours before your class, and we’ll send you a makeup token.

Makeup tokens are valid for 2 months and can be used anytime while your enrolment is active.

NB: Your makeup token will appear on your account AFTER the missed classed has finished.

Mel Saunders | Dip. Early Childhood Education
Melissa has a background and qualifications in early childhood teaching and music education...
Melissa has a background and qualifications in early childhood teaching and music education – giving you and your child a complete educational and creative experience. Before joining the Hive, Melissa worked as an Early Childhood Teacher and Director and also as a Voice Teacher and Choir Director. Melissa’s skills extend to the stage as well, where she has many years of experience in writing, directing and producing musicals and dramatic theatre productions.

She’s also a singer and songwriter – you might just see her wowing audiences at live performances in local venues around Newcastle.

Melissa is a proud mum to Natasha and Daniel, who share her passion for beautiful music and performance.

Emily Kingsmill | Bach. Psychology in Education
Emily grew up playing the piano then completed her Psychology in Education...
Emily is a pianist, singer and teacher. She grew up playing the piano then completed her Psychology in Education degree back in England. She qualified as a Primary School teacher, then as an Early Childhood educator here in Australia. She is passionate about children learning through the joy of music and is delighted to be putting both her love of music and education together at Hive.

Her two little boys share her love of music, and together they like to spend time exploring and adventuring outdoors, going to the beach, sailing, crafting, baking, plus singing, dancing and making music!

Eloise Sheean | Bach. Music
Eloise completed her Bachelor of Music degree through the University of Newcastle...
Eloise was born into a musical family. Both her grandparents and mother were singers and teachers at the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music.
She completed her Bachelor of Music degree through the University of Newcastle and had many performance opportunities, including being a member of University of Newcastle Chamber Choir.
She has performed in numerous concerts as lead soprano such as Mozarts Requiem & Vespers and performed in opera and theatre productions of The Magic Flute, La Bohème, Wicked, Les Misérables, Beauty and the Beast and many more. Eloise has also performed with Sydney based choral group Cantillation on the soundtrack for Happy Feet 2 and Nigel Westlake’s premiere of Requiem for Eli at the Sydney Opera House with Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
She has previously taught private singing tuition from home and Newcastle Grammar School with a variety of students ranging in age, skill level and vocal style.
After taking a break from performing to start a family, Eloise is excited to help children explore their creativity through their love of singing and music making.
