Hive Music school offers private music classes in vocal and piano, using the popular Simply Music Piano method. Classes are held in our Newcastle studio by experinced and qualified instructors.

Piano Lessons

The Hive piano program uses the Simply Music Piano method which is a very natural, approach to playing piano, incorporating a wide range of musical skills including improvisation, chords, playing by ear and reading music and allows the student to quickly become proficient in playing a wide variety of ‘real’ music straight away. Suitable for children as young as 5 right through to adults, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you can be playing great sounding music!

Students attend a weekly 30 min class and need to complete home practice for approx 5-10 min per day, 4 days per week. If your child is under 10 yrs old, plan to sit with them during practice time each day as they’ll need your guidance and encouragement. You’ll need a basic keyboard or piano and an ipad or laptop to complete the home practice.

Once you and your child are ready to join piano classes at Hive, we carefully group them with children of a similar age and who are at the same level.

Vocal Lessons

Hive Private Voice lessons are available for students 5 – Adults. Students can choose stylistic focus, including pop and musical theatre.

Lessons focus on the development of sustainable vocal technique. Students will learn:
• Finding their unique, individual voice
• Tone and placement in different vocal styles
• Diction and projection
• Healthy and sustainable vocal practice
• How to perform the story of the song
• Letting go and relaxing into performance

Students attend a weekly 30 min class and need to complete home practice for approx 5-10 min per day, 4 days per week. This includes vocal exercises, assigned work, practicing songs etc.

Enrolment Information

Fees: Private Lessons

30 min $39.50/week/student
20 min $28.00/week/student

1 makeup class per term where availability exists: to access makeups you must notify your absence 24 hrs in advance and book a makeup using the CLIENT PORTAL. Online classes via zoom are also offered where students cannot attend an in person class.

Billing is upfront at the time of enrolment. Should you need a monthly repayment plan, please contact our office.

Enrolment Policy:

Please choose your class enrolment carefully. Once you enrol, you are committing to the full or remaining term of classes.
No cancellations are accepted during the current term after the start date for the term.
Refund Policy: Refunds in the form of money back to you, credit towards your fees for the same child or a different child ARE NOT given for change of mind or change of circumstances or for any other reason, with the exception of any provisions under the ACCC.
Makeups for group classes can be booked via the client portal where your absence has been notified by 8am on the day of your class, and where vacancies exist. There is no limit on how many makeups you can access while enrolled, however all makeups will become void upon cancellation of your enrolment.
Enrolments Auto-renew every term in order to keep your spot in the same class. Your enrolment will auto-enrol in week 8 of the term for the following term and your card will be debited in week 9 for the next terms fees. Prior to this occurring you will receive 2 text and email alerts. Should you wish to change or cancel your next term’s enrolment you can do so from the client portal
