How Simply Music is Changing the Way Kids Learn Piano

Piano lessons are often seen as difficult and time consuming. And through traditional methods they sure can be. However, one music education group is changing the way children learn piano. Hive’s new Simply Music Piano program has a more natural approach to music education.

In the same way that we all learn to speak years before we learn to read and spell, Hive’s Simply Music Piano program temporarily delays music reading and immerses students in the experience of immediately playing great-sounding music. The result of this is that students quickly, easily and naturally are playing 30-50 beautiful pieces. Thereafter, our unique approach to music reading is introduced. We love that our students become strong readers – this is the future of music education, and it’s a far more natural approach.

The fundamental goal of the Simply Music Piano Method is designed to maximize the likelihood of students acquiring and retaining music as a lifelong companion.

The program is designed so that students:

  • Experience playing as a natural self-expression
  • Play a broad repertoire that includes classical, contemporary, blues, jazz, accompaniments and more…
  • Learn to “self-generate”, i.e., progress independently as musicians, and have a strong foundation in music reading and theory
  • Have a highly positive, self-affirming experience

The method unfolds over the course of 6 to 10 years, however students will have a solid foundation to play several pieces after a year or so of training. The program is designed for both kids and adults of all ages.

Joining our Piano Bees program gives your child the best quality musical beginning as they will develop a wide range of musical skills such as playing by ear, improvising, playing from chords and reading music. It’s an amazing musical journey that will stick with your child throughout their lifetime. We open new piano classes every few weeks. Contact us to find out about lesson times, chat with a teacher or book a trial lesson!
