Kindermusik takes early music education to the next level. Our music-and-movement activities are carefully and creatively designed to enhance children’s cognitive, language, physical, creative, and social-emotional development. Plus, Kindermusik’s focus on different musical concepts, genres, and styles helps foster a lifelong love of and appreciation for the music itself.

10-24 months

Tiny Bees

While your little bee takes his/her first few steps and falls in the big world, give them the extraordinary gift of music to help them along their new path.  The time between when your child is born until age 7 is the most important time for learning and brain development and music has been proven many times over to be the best way to stimulate brain development in children, to give them the strongest foundations to grow and thrive.  Our resarch-based Kindermusik Program for Tiny Bees is filled with singing, playing and vibrant music making that will help them to develop body coordination, movement, speech and language.

Giving your child the experience of learning in a caring, loving and safe environment will help them blossom with confidence and grow in leaps and bounds.

Our Tiny Bee’s class is available for:
• 10 mths – 24 mths (younger siblings welcome)

All Music classes are held at our Charlestown studio in Newcastle.

Class Fees:
Term Upfront: $22/week ($220/10 week term)
Monthly Flexi Plan: $26/week ($260/10 week term)

2 years

Bouncing Bees

Watch your little bee take flight as she masters jumping, twirling, tapping a steady beat and new vocabulary skills in our Bouncing Bees program designed by the world-leader in early childhood music:

Your child will be enthusiastically tap and bang on our huge drums, will love dancing with scarves and ribbons, shaking the parachute and so much more.

We’ll help you bring out the very best in your child – You will be amazed at your child’s fascination with music and capacity to learn in this delightfully engaging and flexible environment. Best of all, you’re right there with your child, interacting with one another, learning together, supporting a musical head start, and making the most of this precious time in the life of your child.

3-4 years

Musical Bees

Our 3 Yr old Program wraps your little one in a world of make-believe accompanied by incredible musical learning. They will go sailing on breezy, calm seas with animated pirates; tumble and scamper around like a clown in the circus and go on wild adventures, including fast, whistling train rides.

Whilst your busy little bee is exploring their world of imagination, they’ll also be:

  • tuning up their singing voice with our professional singers;
  • fine-tuning their listening skills as we teach them to hear and respond to musical patterns;
  • strum chords on ukulele;
  • use their whole body to respond to music through joyful movement using hoops, parachute, balls and more;
  • gain a sense of rhythm as they play back rhythmic patterns on the drums and so much more.

Our Musical Bee’s (3-4 yr) class is available for:
• 3-4 year olds (younger siblings up to 18 months are welcome)

4-5 years (drop-off)

Musical Bees

Our 4 Yr Old Musical Bees Program nurtures your child’s creative flow, strengthening the natural connection they share with the marvel of music and giving them the confidence and skill to create their own.

Based on the successful Orff and Kodaly approaches to teaching music through expressive movement, listening, echoing and patterns, our classes provide your child with the right environment for them to spread their wings and let their musical skills soar.

Your child will dance, move and playfully experience songs and stories that are designed to lead to deeper learning.

  • Learn to strum 1 and 2 chord songs on the ukulele.
  • Learn to create stories through sound.
  • Develop the ability to hear, sing and play back tunes on xylophone.
  • Learn to sing in tune.
  • Discover that music can be written down, and begin to read music using symbols, pictures and rhythmic notes.
  • Participate in group music making using percussion, drums, ukulele, recorder and xylophone.
  • All Music classes are held at our Charlestown studio in Newcastle

• 4-5 year olds (this is a drop-off/pick-up class)

Mel Saunders | Dip. Early Childhood Education

Melissa has a background and qualifications in early childhood teaching and music education...

Melissa has a background and qualifications in early childhood teaching and music education – giving you and your child a complete educational and creative experience. Before joining the Hive, Melissa worked as an Early Childhood Teacher and Director and also as a Voice Teacher and Choir Director. Melissa’s skills extend to the stage as well, where she has many years of experience in writing, directing and producing musicals and dramatic theatre productions.

She’s also a singer and songwriter – you might just see her wowing audiences at live performances in local venues around Newcastle.

Melissa is a proud mum to Natasha and Daniel, who share her passion for beautiful music and performance.

Emily Kingsmill | Bach. Psychology in Education

Emily grew up playing the piano then completed her Psychology in Education...

Emily is a pianist, singer and teacher. She grew up playing the piano then completed her Psychology in Education degree back in England. She qualified as a Primary School teacher, then as an Early Childhood educator here in Australia. She is passionate about children learning through the joy of music and is delighted to be putting both her love of music and education together at Hive.

Her two little boys share her love of music, and together they like to spend time exploring and adventuring outdoors, going to the beach, sailing, crafting, baking, plus singing, dancing and making music!

Eloise Sheean | Bach. Music

Eloise completed her Bachelor of Music degree through the University of Newcastle...
Eloise was born into a musical family. Both her grandparents and mother were singers and teachers at the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music.
She completed her Bachelor of Music degree through the University of Newcastle and had many performance opportunities, including being a member of University of Newcastle Chamber Choir.
She has performed in numerous concerts as lead soprano such as Mozarts Requiem & Vespers and performed in opera and theatre productions of The Magic Flute, La Bohème, Wicked, Les Misérables, Beauty and the Beast and many more. Eloise has also performed with Sydney based choral group Cantillation on the soundtrack for Happy Feet 2 and Nigel Westlake’s premiere of Requiem for Eli at the Sydney Opera House with Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
She has previously taught private singing tuition from home and Newcastle Grammar School with a variety of students ranging in age, skill level and vocal style.
After taking a break from performing to start a family, Eloise is excited to help children explore their creativity through their love of singing and music making.
