Real art skills emerge when exploration and instruction work in equal balance — not one without the other. That’s exactly how we teach.
Every Mini Makers session begins with open art exploration, giving children the freedom to think creatively, play with ideas, and discover materials without limits. From there, we move into guided art-making, where students build foundational art skills step by step, creating their own unique piece along the way.
This is the thinking behind every session in Mini Makers. Led by our experienced teaching artists, classes are thoughtfully designed to build real technique — not just fill time with craft activities.
Children who attend every week don’t just create in class – they build real, transferable skills they can carry home and apply to their own art-making, again and again.
Throughout each term, children explore a range of art mediums – canvas, watercolour, clay, and more – building confidence, independence, and genuine pride in what they create.

Meet the Teachers
Hive Art Studio is proudly 100% local and women-owned — founded in 2011 by Vanessa Lynch, built by a creative mum, for families, and shaped by a community that believes in the power of creative arts.
Our Mini Makers program is built on years of specialist art education — refined, tested, and continually improved by our team of qualified teaching artists.
Grace Lickley holds a Bachelor of Natural History Illustration and specialises in both digital and traditional drawing methods, with a particular love for watercolour, alongside acrylic, polymer clay, and fine liner work. She was accepted into the National Art School’s Intensive Studio Program in Sydney, specialising in Life Drawing, and has exhibited her work in multiple shows. Grace brings extensive experience teaching children at both primary and high school levels, and is deeply passionate about helping young artists discover their creativity and build real technical skill.
Laura Edwards holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts and a Bachelor of Education, with formal training in drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture, and has exhibited her work in multiple group exhibitions. Her fine art practice spans oils, acrylics, and watercolours, alongside a broad range of craft techniques including macramé, mosaic, jewellery making, and quilling. Laura brings over eight years of experience as a high school teacher, and is dedicated to helping young people build real skills, confidence, and a lasting appreciation for the arts.

We know enrolling your child in a new program is a big decision – so if you’d like to experience the Art Studio before committing, you’re welcome to book a trial class and see it for yourself.

Class Format
This one-hour class is built around a balance of exploration and instruction. The first 30 minutes is guided exploration of art materials and open art play, followed by 30 minutes of structured, step-by-step art instruction. Each week brings a fresh theme, so there’s always something new to create.
We know every child settles in differently, so parents are welcome to stay at the beginning of class for as long as your little one needs. Once they’re settled and happy, feel free to relax in our waiting area and watch through the open door — or step out and come back at pick-up time.
Class Info
Timetable: Art classes run on Mon, Thu, Fri mornings. Check our live timetable for class times & vacancies.
Fees & Billing:
Commit to a full term /remaining weeks in the term: $32 / class billed upfront at time of enrolment. If you enrol after the term begins, your fee will be pro rated from your start date.
Month to month flexi billing: $35 / class, billed on a recurring basis on the 20th of each month for the next calendar month until you cancel. Cancellations can be made at the end of any calendar month with no notice period required.
Missed Classes
Notify your absence through the Client Portal at least 2 hours before your class, and you’ll receive a makeup token after your missed class ends. Use the token to book into any other class in your child’s age group. Makeup tokens are valid for 4 months and can be used anytime while your enrolment is active.
