Piano Bees

Group Piano & Keyboard lessons in Newcastle for Children, Teens and Adults

Piano Bees is an ongoing progressive piano teaching method using the SIMPLY MUSIC program.

“In the same way that we all learn to speak years before we learn to read and spell, Simply Music Piano temporarily delays music reading and immerses students in the experience of immediately playing great-sounding music. We do this so successfully by introducing students to an array of unique playing-based concepts that unfold directly onto the keyboard.

The result of this is that students quickly, easily and naturally are playing a solid foundation of 35 to 50 beautiful pieces, and this is typically acquired over the first year or so of lessons. Thereafter, our unique approach to music reading is introduced. We love that our students become strong readers and we love our unique approach of how we teach students to read. We also love the fact that we don’t introduce reading from the very beginning – it’s the future of music education, and it’s a far more natural approach.” (Simply Music).

Joining Piano Bees gives your child the best quality musical beginning as they will develop a wide range of musical skills such as playing by ear, improvising, playing from chords and reading music. It’s an amazing musical journey that will stick with your child throughout their lifetime.

How it Works:

Your child will attend a weekly 30 min class.  In the last 10 min of each class, parents are invited into the classroom to learn how to complete the home practice for that week.  In order to keep up with the group and make progress in their lessons, children need to complete home practice for approx 5-10 min per day, 4 days per week.  Home practice is fun, and the practice guides are short videos provided as part of your home practice kit.  Children under 10 yrs old need a parent to sit with them during practice time, preferably the same parent who attends the lesson with them.  You’ll need a basic keyboard or piano and an ipad to complete the home practice.

Once you and your child are ready to join piano classes at Hive, we carefully group them with children of a similar age and who are at the same level.

How to Join:

Beginner classes open as soon as we have 3 new students ready to start.

We’ll get in touch straight away to help place you in the best class for your child.
