Your child has brought home some beautiful Oven-Bake clay creations today!

Here’s how to bake it so it will last forever:

1. Preheat oven to 110 degrees celsius FAN BAKE if possible. If you don’t have a fan oven, ensure clay is placed in the centre of the oven away from the elements.

2. Place the clay in a cookie baking tray lined with baking paper (waxed) or if it was sent home in a cardboard tray, you can bake it in this tray.

3. Bake for approx 30 min per 1 cm of thickness.

If the clay has been built onto a base such as MDF board (including pre-painted), tile or teracotta, put the whole item into the oven to be baked.

Check the clay frequently while cooking to ensure no burning – some ovens have thermostats that are not accurate. The clay does not go hard until it has cooled down, but should be left inside the oven to cool slowly to avoid cracking.
